Bus Azur and more views from the N0.8 Bus

The Number 8 bus in Cannes is an open-topped bus which travels along the Croisette ( Marine Parade).

I love the views from this bus and have painted a series of oils and watercolours which will be exhibited at the Tourist Office in Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

Posters from the exhibition are now on view in all 65 buses in Cannes.

The expo is from 28th Dec. 2009 - 4th January 2010.

The exhibition is open from 9.00 am-7.00pm every day.

Draw Water and Other Things

"Draw Water and Other Things" is a fun book for all children from 5 - 105 . For the child who lacks confidence in drawing , the easy step-by step drawings are simple to follow and produce quick results.

For the more mature artist, there is plenty in the book to use for future creations.

The book will be launched in March 2010 and is published by Sigel Press.

It covers a range of subjects to capture a child's imagination , from a hamburger picnic to space shuttles and flying saucers.

It is not designed to be prescriptive . It is merely a stepping stone to free the child who wants to draw, but feels they cannot.

It is charmingly illustrated by Irene Malvezi.

The book will sell in the UK for £9.99 and already French and Spanish versions are in the pipeline.

WaterAid again!

WaterAid, the safe water charity, have again chosen one of my women with water designs for their Christmas Cards.

This is the ninth year that they have used my African images. I am very pleased to be able to represent such a worthwhile cause.

My 2008 cards which are blank inside for any purpose, can be purchased from the WaterAid shop.

GOLD MEDAL AT CANNES

I am delighted to say I have been awarded a Gold Medal at the International Grand Prix of Art in Cannes.
This will the second Gold that I have received from the "Prestige de Cannes" committee.

Over thirty countries participated. I was very proud to represent Great Britain.
The judges chose, Le Suquet la Nuit and the La Maison Jaune as prize winners.

Villefranche aquarelle

Villefranche is another of my favourite places to paint. I love the sunlight falling on the coloured houses on the quayside.
The top image is a watercolour and the lower is oil on canvas.

Winter Exhibition at Palais des Festivals 23 December 2008-4th January 2009

The Office du Tourisme in Cannes has given NissenSamuels the honour of being the first artist to exhibit there after their recent refurbishment. The exhibition will have a mix of recent watercolours and oils as well as some new abstracts. The Office is is open daily from 9 am - 7pm Monday to Sunday. NissenSamuels will be present for some of the time.

Easy draw book

The easy drawing book for five and six year olds, is now well on its way to being published in the USA in 2009.
The book is designed to help any one who feels they would like to learn to draw.
With simple drawings and easy instructions, the book is popular because of its clarity of design and step by step drawings.
Linda Nissen Samuels feels most people can learn to draw as long as they can write their name.
"I had to learn the hard way" she says."If I had been taught the basics at school, I would not have struggled so much. I think children should be taught to draw , just as they are taught scales on a piano. Teaching does not suppress creativity. It enhances it.".

The Long Walk

WaterAid have published two cards this year which have been created by Linda Nissen Samuels. Medici cards are re- publishing a watercolour which was their top-selling card in the corporate catalogue last Christmas. The new image in the WaterAid Shop is "The Long Walk". So far nearly 8,000 have been sold.

More WaterAid cards

Nissen Samuels has also this week been commissioned to create two more images for the international Charity WaterAid.
Last year's sales contributed to a grand total of 200,000 cards sold with Nissen Samuels' images.
This year's cards will still have the "Water Gatherers" theme and should be on sale from October 2008.

Exhibition in CHELSEA and SILVER MEDAL in CANNES

The Untitled Artists Exhibition in Chelsea was a great success with thousands of people passing through the doors.
After a champagne reception to open the expo, the following days were very exciting for both artists and viewers.
Nissen Samuels' stand was very well-received with compliments all round for all the artists exhibiting.

The Grand Prix de Prestige de Cannes has awarded Linda Nissen Samuels a SILVER medal for her two watercolours of Cannes.
The paintings which are on view in the web gallery are the "Old Port" and "60 years celebration of the Cannes Film Festival"
