Bus Azur and more views from the N0.8 Bus

The Number 8 bus in Cannes is an open-topped bus which travels along the Croisette ( Marine Parade).

I love the views from this bus and have painted a series of oils and watercolours which will be exhibited at the Tourist Office in Palais des Festivals in Cannes.

Posters from the exhibition are now on view in all 65 buses in Cannes.

The expo is from 28th Dec. 2009 - 4th January 2010.

The exhibition is open from 9.00 am-7.00pm every day.

Draw Water and Other Things

"Draw Water and Other Things" is a fun book for all children from 5 - 105 . For the child who lacks confidence in drawing , the easy step-by step drawings are simple to follow and produce quick results.

For the more mature artist, there is plenty in the book to use for future creations.

The book will be launched in March 2010 and is published by Sigel Press.

It covers a range of subjects to capture a child's imagination , from a hamburger picnic to space shuttles and flying saucers.

It is not designed to be prescriptive . It is merely a stepping stone to free the child who wants to draw, but feels they cannot.

It is charmingly illustrated by Irene Malvezi.

The book will sell in the UK for £9.99 and already French and Spanish versions are in the pipeline.

WaterAid, the safe water charity, have again chosen one of my women with water designs for their Christmas Cards.

This is the ninth year that they have used my African images. I am very pleased to be able to represent such a worthwhile cause.

My 2008 cards which are blank inside for any purpose, can be purchased from the WaterAid shop.

GOLD MEDAL AT CANNES

I am delighted to say I have been awarded a Gold Medal at the International Grand Prix of Art in Cannes.
This will the second Gold that I have received from the "Prestige de Cannes" committee.

Over thirty countries participated. I was very proud to represent Great Britain.
The judges chose, Le Suquet la Nuit and the La Maison Jaune as prize winners.

Villefranche is another of my favourite places to paint. I love the sunlight falling on the coloured houses on the quayside.

The Office du Tourisme in Cannes has given NissenSamuels the honour of being the first artist to exhibit there after their recent refurbishment. The exhibition will have a mix of recent watercolours and oils as well as some new abstracts. The Office is is open daily from 9 am - 7pm Monday to Sunday. NissenSamuels will be present for some of the time.

Easy draw book

The easy drawing book for five and six year olds, is now well on its way to being published in the USA in 2009.
The book is designed to help any one who feels they would like to learn to draw.
With simple drawings and easy instructions, the book is popular because of its clarity of design and step by step drawings.
Linda Nissen Samuels feels most people can learn to draw as long as they can write their name.
"I had to learn the hard way" she says."If I had been taught the basics at school, I would not have struggled so much. I think children should be taught to draw , just as they are taught scales on a piano. Teaching does not suppress creativity. It enhances it.".

WaterAid have published two cards this year which have been created by Linda Nissen Samuels. Medici cards are re- publishing a watercolour which was their top-selling card in the corporate catalogue last Christmas. The new image in the WaterAid Shop is "The Long Walk". So far nearly 8,000 have been sold.

Nissen Samuels has also this week been commissioned to create two more images for the international Charity WaterAid.
Last year's sales contributed to a grand total of 200,000 cards sold with Nissen Samuels' images.
This year's cards will still have the "Water Gatherers" theme and should be on sale from October 2008.

The Untitled Artists Exhibition in Chelsea was a great success with thousands of people passing through the doors.
After a champagne reception to open the expo, the following days were very exciting for both artists and viewers.
Nissen Samuels' stand was very well-received with compliments all round for all the artists exhibiting.

The Grand Prix de Prestige de Cannes has awarded Linda Nissen Samuels a SILVER medal for her two watercolours of Cannes.
The paintings which are on view in the web gallery are the "Old Port" and "60 years celebration of the Cannes Film Festival"

Untitled Artists Fair

Nissen Samuels will be sharing a stand with sculptor and painter Fiona Goldbacher at the Untitled Artists Fair.
Chelsea Town Hall, King's Road, will be the London venue for the 2008 exhibition of new works by Nissen Samuels.
The exhibition will feature paintings of her favourite cities, London and Cannes.
Opening days are Saturday 30th May and Sunday 1st June 2008
Opening hours 10.30 am -6.00 pm.

New WaterAid Cards

The charity, WaterAid, has commissioned several African card images by Linda Nissen Samuels over the years. Born and educated in South Africa, Nissen Samuels is delighted with their popularity and has found this a very fruitful way to give back something to the continent of her birth.
Nearly 160,000 Nissen Samuels cards have been sold. This totals roughly £75,000 raised for WaterAid.

In 2006, 58,000 were sold by Christmas. Her images of Water Gatherers were the top sellers.

This year WaterAid has published two colourful watercolour images of African Water Gatherers in a double pack with no message and Medici cards have reprinted another popular image of women in a landscape for personalised and corporate cards.

WaterAid Charity Christmas Cards

WaterAid has once more commissioned Nissen Samuels to create 2 images for their 2007 cards. As usual the theme will be an African one.
Nissen Samuels has been designing cards for Water Aid since the nineties and to date has sold near to 160,000 Nissen Samuels designs.
A third image will be used for the peronalised cards.

Gold Medal Award Cannes 2007

Nissen Samuels has just been awarded a gold medal at the "Grand Prix de Prestige de Cannes" exhibition organised by the Monde de Culture et Art.
The exhibition which was held in the Cannes Gare Maritime in April had over a thousand entrants and the Nissen Samuels' prizewinning paintings were "Sunrise at Palm Beach" and "Le Carlton". Both paintings can be seen on the "Cannes Gallery Slideshow" on the Gallery page of this site.
Awards will be presented by the Mayor on June 2nd at the Hotel de Ville, in Cannes.
This is the second time Nissen Samuels has won an award at the Grand Prix. In 2006 she won a bronze medal.

60th Anniversary of Cannes Film Festival Exhibition

Nissen Samuels has been invited by the Cannes Tourist Office to present an exhibition commemorating the 60th Anniversary of the Film Festival.
The watercolours will be themed around movies on the Riviera.
This is a new departure for Nissen Samuels .Most of the paintings will feature figures and will be interpretations from films.
The exhibition will run for the first two weeks of August 2007.

The British Association on the Riviera is publishing a professionally designed handbook in 2007 to commemorate its 50th Anniversary. Edited by Hugh Mitford Raymond, Chairman of the Nice Branch, its purpose is to supply information to English speaking residents and visitors in the Alpes Maritimes and Var. With an introduction from the British Consul, the book will cover a wide range of topics from the French Health System to Buying a Property on the Riviera.

This informative gem will be liberally illustrated with colourful images of the South of France , from Menton to the Var.
Nissen Samuels has been commissioned to create a series of watercolours in her inimitable style to embellish the book and make it a pleasure to find out more about this exquisite area.

Exhibition at The Wernick Gallery, Lincolnshire
